About Compear
Compear is a UK-based comparison site built around one idea: finding the right product shouldn’t be complicated. Whether you’re looking for mobility scooter insurance, storage cover, home emergency protection, or help comparing estate agents — we bring together the leading providers so you can make an informed choice without the hassle.
How Compear started
Compear is a website by Web Daddy Ltd, a UK-based digital company. It was built with a simple frustration: too many people were paying over the odds — or going without cover altogether — simply because they didn’t know where to look. We set out to fix that by creating a clear, unbiased comparison resource that puts the right information in front of the right people.
We cover a deliberately focused range of categories — the products where independent comparison genuinely makes a difference to what you pay and the cover you get.
How Compear works
Choose your category
Pick the product you want to compare from our list of Compearisons.
See the options
We display the leading UK providers for that category — with key features and pricing clearly shown.
Go direct
Click through to the provider of your choice and get a quote directly from them. No middlemen, no forms to fill in here.
Compear is a comparison and information resource — we don’t sell insurance or financial products directly. When you click through to a provider, you’re dealing with that company directly.
Who checks our content
Karen Purnell
Editor, Compear
Karen has worked with Web Daddy for ten years and is the editor responsible for the content on Compear. She works part time, fitting the role around family life.
She began her career as a secretary and personal assistant to a firm of surveyors, which is where she first started reading property paperwork for a living. Today she writes and edits for a range of finance and insurance websites, so provider small print is familiar territory.
Karen’s job here is to check every provider page before it goes live: that the cover described matches what the provider actually says, that prices carry the right caveats, that drawbacks appear alongside the selling points, and that the whole thing reads plainly enough to be useful. She is not a financial adviser, and nothing on Compear is advice — her role is accuracy and clarity, not recommendations.
How we make money
Compear is currently free to use. In future, the site may earn introducer fees from insurance providers and display advertising. This will never affect which providers we list or how we present them.
