Fish Insurance (trading name of Fish Administration Ltd, FCA-regulated, FRN 310172) has provided specialist insurance for people with disabilities, mobility issues and pre-existing medical conditions since 1975, when it was founded by Mike Fish. It's now part of PIB Group, and its mobility scooter policies are underwritten by Bspoke Underwriting Ltd on behalf of Watford Insurance Company Europe Ltd.
Is Fish Insurance any good for mobility scooter cover?
Fish scores well on independent reviews, with a "Great" rating of around 4.7/5 on Trustpilot from roughly 3,300 reviews. Its 50-year specialism in disability and mobility insurance is a genuine differentiator — this isn't a generalist insurer bolting on a mobility scooter product.
How much does Fish mobility scooter insurance cost?
Fish offers three tiers — Lite, Standard and Extra — covering scooter values up to £1,500, £7,000 and £40,000 respectively. Prices start from £38 a year for the entry-level Lite tier. (Note: pricing here reflects Fish's own site as checked in July 2026 — an older £85/year figure has circulated for this provider elsewhere, so always get a fresh quote to confirm cover level and price for your scooter's value.)
What does Fish cover?
- Theft, loss and accidental damage, with new-for-old replacement (2 years on theft, 3 years on damage)
- No upper age limit for policyholders
- Worldwide cover — 21 days on Lite/Standard, 90 days on Extra — plus baggage-handler assistance
- 24/7 breakdown and home recovery on the Extra tier only
Fish Insurance pros and cons
Pros
- 50+ years specialising in disability and mobility insurance
- Three tiers to match scooter value, up to £40,000 cover
- New-for-old replacement as standard
- Strong Trustpilot score (4.7/5)
Cons
- Breakdown cover only included on the top Extra tier
- Puncture cover is a paid add-on
- No liability cover in the USA or Canada
- Second-hand (non-first-owner) scooters settled at market value, not new-for-old
Our verdict on Fish Insurance
Fish is a well-established specialist worth quoting if your scooter is higher value, since its tiered structure covers up to £40,000 — well above most competitors. If you want breakdown cover included, check whether that means stepping up to the Extra tier rather than the entry-level price.
