Golfguard Ltd is a UK specialist sports and travel insurance broker based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, trading for nearly 30 years. Its golf policy is arranged via a managing agency and underwritten by AXIS Managing Agency Ltd on behalf of certain Lloyd's underwriters.
Is Golfguard any good?
We couldn't find an independent Trustpilot page for Golfguard, so there's limited public review data to draw on. That doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the product — some smaller specialists simply have less review volume — but it does mean you're relying more on the policy wording than a track record of customer feedback.
How much does Golfguard cost?
Golfguard's cheapest option, Selective Cover, starts from £15 a year — but this covers liability, personal accident and hole-in-one only, with no equipment cover. If you want your clubs and equipment protected too, Full Cover starts from around £22 a year.
What does Golfguard cover?
- £5 million personal liability cover
- UK cover plus up to 120 days abroad per year
- New-for-old equipment replacement (Full Cover only)
- Hole-in-one bar bill cover up to £100, plus bundled extras like club subscription refund, hospital cash and dental cover
Golfguard pros and cons
Pros
- One of the cheapest entry prices we compare, from £15/year
- 120 days' worldwide cover included — generous for regular golf travellers
- Bundled extras beyond the basics (dental, hospital cash, lost trophies)
Cons
- Entry-level £15 price has no equipment cover at all
- No independent Trustpilot rating found
- £35 excess per claim (£100 for GPS/rangefinders and unattended-equipment theft)
- No cover for theft from commercial vehicles or taxis
Our verdict on Golfguard
Golfguard is worth considering if you mainly want cheap liability cover and travel abroad regularly — 120 days is more generous than most competitors. Just be clear that the £15 headline price doesn't cover your clubs; you'll need Full Cover for that, and the lack of independent reviews means you're taking more on trust than with a widely-rated provider.
