Help & FAQs
About Compear
What is Compear?
Compear is a free UK comparison site. We list insurance, finance, and other products from leading UK providers so you can compare your options in one place. We don’t sell products directly — we link you to providers so you can get a quote or take out a policy with them directly.
Is Compear free to use?
Yes, completely free. Compear is currently an independent comparison resource with no charges to users. In future, the site may earn introducer fees from insurance providers and display advertising — but this will never affect the information shown or the providers we list.
Is Compear regulated by the FCA?
Compear is a comparison and information website — we are not FCA-regulated. We do not sell, arrange, or advise on insurance or financial products. When you click through to a provider, you are dealing directly with that company, which may be FCA-regulated. Always check the provider’s regulatory status before taking out any insurance or financial product.
Does Compear sell my data?
No. When you use our comparison pages, you browse and click through without submitting any personal information to us. If you use our contact form, your details are used only to respond to your enquiry. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Using the comparisons
How do I get a quote?
Click the “Get a Quote” button next to any provider. You’ll go directly to that provider’s website, where you can get a personalised quote or take out a policy.
Are the prices shown accurate?
Prices and product details are supplied by the providers and updated regularly, but they can change at any time. Always check current pricing directly with the provider before making a decision.
Why isn’t my preferred provider listed?
We aim to include all major UK providers for each category, but we don’t list every provider in the market. If you think we’ve missed an important one, let us know.
Insurance and financial products
I have a problem with a policy I took out via a Compear link. What should I do?
You’ll need to contact the provider directly — all policies are issued and managed by the individual providers, not by Compear. Your policy documents will include the provider’s contact details and complaints procedure.
I want to make a complaint about a provider.
Contact the provider first. If they don’t resolve your complaint, you can escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for FCA-regulated products. Visit financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
